BANDIT(Mitchell)

I'm Netta Radice, and my husband and I adopted 'Bandit' from Cat Call in late September at he Pet Smart in Wesley Chapel. (We spoke on the phone briefly the day I adopted him.) Wanted to let you know that he's thriving and growing and loves his big brother Harry Potter, our 6 year old cat. We renamed him Theo. He's a sweetheart, and he gets lots of attention since I work at home. He follows Harry around and they sleep near each other and play well together. He had a tapeworm when we got him but once that cleared up he put on weight. His fur has grown into a beautiful long luxe coat. He looks like a cheese cake - creamy white with graham cracker swirls! We adore him.:-) Enjoy these photos of our little guy. Thanks for taking care of him before he became part of our family.

ANGIE (HCAS)

ANGIE'S STORY Angie sat quietly in a cage at the local animal shelter, wondering how she ended up there. Just a few years back, she had been a stray cat. But her luck had turned around and someone had taken her into their home, where she lived happily for those few years. Unfortunately, her owner had gotten into some trouble and could no longer care for her. The landlord of the building where he lived called the local shelter in Florida, she was brought to animal services, and now time was running out. Unclaimed cats only get a short time before the unspeakable happens. Angie didn't know it, but her original owner's sister in law was working hard to get her out of the shelter. The problem was, she lived in a different state, New Jersey, a thousand miles away, and there were legalities involved with releasing Angie to her. Her time was about to expire. Just in the nick of time, however, the woman contacted Cat Call, a local no-kill cat rescue group. When they heard her story, they knew they needed to help. However, things were about to get worse for Angie. There was a panleukopenia outbreak at the shelter, which is a highly contagious infection. Due to this, there was a hold placed on all cats slated for rescue from the shelter. Most would be euthanized, and only a handful would escape. This is where Cat Call showed their true dedication to helping as many cats as they could. Cat Call was able to arrange for a kennel facility to house about 14 cats or kittens, who were potentially exposed to panleukopenia, until the 14 day quarantine period was over. Individual cages were set up for each cat, and volunteers signed up to kennel and care for the kitties through this period. Lucky for Angie, she was one of them. For 14 days, she sat in this facility, day in and day out, wondering what was in store for her. In a month's time, her owner left her behind, she was sent to an animal shelter, and now she was in yet another kennel facility. When would this end, and when would Angie be happy again? Well, finally, Angie was on her last leg of the journey to her new home. As luck would have it, one of the Cat Call volunteers was flying to New Jersey and offered to fly Angie up with her. Arrangements were made and Angie boarded a plane with this nice volunteer. Though she was nervous, she behaved herself very well and a few hours later, landed in her new home state, New Jersey. An hour and a half drive from the airport, she had finally arrived at her new house. Here, she would have lots of windows to look out, with plenty of wildlife to entertain herself. This seemed too good to be true after everything she had just been through. But, it was real, Angie finally had a new home and is now living happily ever after. Thank goodness for rescue groups and for saving Angie.
